Our bodies are continually showing outward signs of aging. We begin to see a few gray hairs, we notice a winkle line or two around our eyes, and we just don't move like we used to. Less obvious to our daily living is the aging of our brains. As we gain years of life our brains change. Similar to muscles and joints as we get older our brains tend to stiffen. Although we are all aging and our brains are changing, scientist are discovering that adopting a healthy lifestyle can delay or minimize the effects of aging. Healthy fats like omega-3 fatty acids, and monounsaturated fats are optimal for brain health. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in chia seeds, flax seeds, walnuts and some fishes. Monounsaturated fats can be found in olives, avocados, and most nuts. Adding a variety of healthy fats into your diet can help sustain brain health for many years to come!
