We all know that our grandmothers make the best foods. They have a special trick to making the perfect loaf of bread, the most mouth-watering cookies, and the BEST holiday meals. Here are just a few of my favorite tips that I learned from my grandmothers.
Always use real butter! Real Butter just makes everything taste better.
Bake and cook from scratch. Using fresh ingredients that come together using a wooden spoon just turn out better!
To make the perfect oatmeal cookie roll the cookie dough ball in sugar before baking. It gives the cookie the best barely there crisp outside and perfect chewy inside.
Make casseroles and salads the night before. Grandma makes the best shrimp pasta salad! She always made it the day before and let all the tastes meld together overnight in the refrigerator.
Practice! Our grandmothers spend their days in the kitchen learning and developing wonderful recipes.
Don't be afraid of fat! Grandma's best pie crust is made with lard. Save your bacon grease, it makes the best eggs.
Cook with LOVE! Grandma's kitchen is always filled with love. She encourages us to cook from the heart with an intention that our food will make someone happy!
